CRBC – John Neufeld

Kids just can’t wait to grow up. Naturally kids grow. But it’s less natural for us to grow spiritually. At first we are eager and intentional, but if we become side tracked we can lose vision.

The story of the boat builder who built his sail boat only for the applause of man. He applied great detail to the aesthetics, but decided not to concern himself with the underside of the boat where no-one could see. When a storm arose the boat capsized because there was more than half the weight was above the water line.

☆ Matt 7 24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Sometimes we make ambitions and dreams, and things don’t work out to plan and we go through a storm.

Four ways to define/measure spirtual growth:
1) Listen to God’s word. ☆ Matt 7:24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine. Example; what does it mean to be a Christian employee?  What will retirement look like if I am a christian. The world makes humanity the highest form of morality, but Christianity makes God & his word the bible the highest form.
2) Life of service. ☆ James 2 “faith without works is dead”. We need to seek ways to live out our faith.
We know the drills, we’ve read the books – WE NEED TO GET INTO THE GAME! Step out in faith. Are you bored spiritually? That’s BAD! You will grow in the game. Get involved in your unsaved community. Get involved in your unsaved community!!
3) Pursues a deeper relationship with Jesus. Being a Christian is not only a matter of thinking and acting, but also a matter of being. Quite time. If you feel like this is not for you because it doesn’t match your personality type, yor need to remember that these are called spiritual disciplines for a reason. Is your relationship with Jesus growing, or just growing stale.
4) Building together before others. Hebrews 13 with each other. Help each other! Bear each others burdens. Invest into your spiritual community.
Is the there people in your life who will give you honesty when you ask for feedback. Is the people in your life that will address your sin issues.

You can measure your spitual growth practically because it is impossble to grow spiritually without the changes conig through in your everyday living.
